Toyota recently announced voluntary recalling 94 000 126 units of the 2011 Sienna minivan due to issues with the brake light switch bracket. What happens is when the parking brake is fully pressed it may strain the switch bracket.
In documents filed with the National Highway Safety United States (NHTSA), Toyota said they’ve received 32 complaints about the problem that affects cars produced between December 2009 and November this year.
According to Toyota, “due to the proximity of the brake light switch bracket to the parking brake pedal when the parking brake is fully applied, the bracket could, in limited circumstances, be deformed by the driver’s foot during parking brake operation”.
Toyota said it is satisfied that no accident has occurred or that no one has suffered injuries as a result of this defect.
Sienna model owners will be informed on how and when will the replacement of the bracket assembly take place. Repair will be done by the local Toyota dealerships, free of charge naturally.
