The e-books are one of the stars for Christmas gifts as Amazon proclaims. The new Kindle 3G has surpassed JK Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ as the highest selling product in Amazon’s history. Amazon does not give specific figures but said that is the most sold item in history for an online store.
Amazon announced that Christmas Day was the busiest day of shopping in their e-book section, with values higher than 9 million copies purchased, more Kindle books than any other day in history.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also said that the company is also seeing that many people who bought Kindle prefer this device to a ‘tablet.
“According to reports, customers use their LCD ‘tablets’ for games, movies and surfing the web and their Kindle for reading purposes. They say they prefer Kindle for reading, as it weighs less, eliminates the concern about battery life and reduces eye strain.”
In addition, Bezos says the Kindle costs of $ 139 is a key factor because it is low enough so that “people do not have to choose.” As for devices, the Kindle3 (Wi-Fi), and the Kindle3 3G were the top sellers.
